PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND, founded in 1815, is
known throughout the world and is established in more than 53 countries as a brand leader
in both sports and high-quality leisurewear.
Pringle is synonymous with golf through its sponsorship of
tournaments, designing Ryder Cup wear and its association with most of the top names in
the game, most recently Nick Faldo.
For more than 30 years Pringle has supported the game through
the sponsorship of professional tournaments, including the Pringle Tournament, the Pringle
Trophy and the Pringle Seniors.
The Ryder Cup polo shirt, knitted with a woven lion, was
Pringles very first golf product and the prototype of the Ryder Cup shirt used by
both the British and American teams in the 1955 competition at Palm Springs, California.
Pringle also designed the shirts for the 1957 and 1959 Ryder Cup teams.
Most of the top names in golf wear or have worn Pringle,
including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tony Jacklin, Tom Weiskopf, Billy
Casper, Tony Lema, Bob Charles, Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh, Helen Alfredsson and
Alison Nicholas.
In 1986 Pringle launched Faldo Pringle as a separate brand to
capitalise on the burgeoning golf market in the UK. The Nick Faldo Collection, launched in
1988, has sold well over two million garments in the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA.
In line with Pringles innovative role in the design and
development of golf wear, the Pringle Golf collection is to be launched in the autumn of
1999, and today Pringle sport a number of additional golf products, including a fashion
range, umbrellas, socks, hats, golf carriers, socks and sunglasses.
