RYDER CUP POSTPONED UNTIL 2002
THE Ryder Cup match, which was due to start on September 28 at The Belfry in England, has been postponed for a year following the tragedy in New York.

Course of the Month -- TURNBERRY
The youngest of Scotlands Open Championship venues it staged its first major in 1977 -- but it is by no means overshadowed by its rivals. The first 13 holes were laid out by Willie Fernie in 1903 and three years later it was the first hotel and golf complex in the world. Locals have a saying that if you cant see Ailsa Craig, the 1,208-foot high granite rock off the Ayrshire coast, its raining; if you can, its about to rain. They do a disservice to an area of Scotland that is home to a glorious course, which is amongst the best. Often when the rest of Britain is shivering in a freezing winter, the sun is shining on Turnberry and the temperature is mild.

COOL DUVAL IS OPEN CHAMP
DAVID DUVAL, the Mr Cool of golf, cruised to Open Championship triumph and a 600,000 cheque with an almost perfect 67 to win his first major title by three strokes with a 10-under-par total of 274 in the sunshine of Royal Lytham. Although only two strokes covered 19 players going into the final round, none of the experienced contenders ever really troubled the 29-year-old American. Swedens Niclas Fasth exploded out of the pack with a 67 to take second spot a stroke ahead of six players, including two Britons Northern Ireland`s Darren Clarke and Wales` Ian Woosnam.

The Complete Guide -
Scotland is the home of golf. Thousands visit the country every year to experience and explore the difficulties and delights of the greatest courses in the world, and most make the pilgrimage to
St.Andrews, where the game was first played in the fifteenth century. No matter how good, golfers never believe they have really played the game until
they have attempted to master the subtle intricacies of at least one of Scotland`s courses, be it St Andrews or the other Open Championship venues of ,
Carnoustie,
Muirfield,
Turnberry,
or Royal Troon, or the beautiful
Royal Dornoch and
Loch Lomond,
or any other of Scotland`s great tests of golf.
